Synopsis: Girlhood in the Bathroom is a new Australian musical set entirely in a club bathroom on New Year’s Eve. 

Amidst the chaos of the female bathroom, five 20-something-year-old girls navigate love, friendship and the truths about the world - through passionate scenes and original songs!

The show explores a simple but revealing question: why do girls always go to the bathroom together? 

With a mix of humour and emotional honesty, this show invites audiences to laugh, cry and recognise themselves in the stories. This show is going to leave you reminiscing longer than the bathroom line!”

Q: What inspired you to create this show?

A: We were inspired by friendship, unity and the camaraderie between strangers. What place is this most prevalent for women? 

The club bathroom, obviously!!

Q: What makes this show unique or different from other shows at the Fringe?

A: Have you ever been to a show set in a bathroom with original music written by five 21-year-old Australian girls? If you haven’t… Now's your chance 😉

Q: Is there a particular theme, message, or idea behind the show that you hope audiences take away with them?

A: The foundation of this show is ‘sisterhood,’ and aims to highlight the positive impacts of friendships and their important role in growing up. We hope audiences leave the theatre feeling a strong sense of connection, community and empowerment.

Q: What has been the most exciting part of bringing this production to Edinburgh Fringe?

A: The most exciting part about bringing this production to Edinburgh is the opportunity to share our Aussie musical with international audiences and broaden our capacity for future development - all while visiting a new country!

Q: Why should audiences add your show to their Fringe schedule this year?

A: If audiences want a night of fun, laughter and relatability, then Girlhood in the Bathroom is one to see! People can see themselves in the stories and will leave saying “this reminded me of a time when…” Let’s break the seal together!!
