🗓️ 24th August 2025

This wasn’t on my radar at all at Edinburgh Fringe but in a last-minute attempt to squeeze in one final show before catching my train, I spotted it on the app. I had 15 minutes to dash between venues but I made it. And I’m so glad I did.

Adult Panto [Unscripted] is 55 minutes of utter chaos…but in the best possible way.

Produced by Matty Hurst Productions, this show was staged in the basement bar of Uno Mas as part of the PBH’s Free Fringe and there was a great buzz in the room as the show kicked off. But shortly after the show started, we were told that we would need to evacuate due to a fire alarm upstairs. With limited time to watch the show, I assumed that I may have to abandon it, but no — the show must go on, and that is exactly what happened.

Taking to the street, the cast did such an amazing job in dealing with the unexpected change in location and carried on with the show. They kept the energy up, the story going and had everyone laughing. They even attracted some passers-by who stopped to enjoy the performance with us, before we got the go-ahead to return inside.

Each performance is completely different, as the cast of three improvise a brand-new pantomime based on audience suggestions. On this occasion — a 6th form school trip to the Lake District, featuring the Cowardly Lion, Puss in Boots, Goldilocks and the Big Bad Wolf… and weirdly a hunt for Ferrero Rocher.

The chemistry between the actors was fantastic — bouncing off one another and the audience with sharp and hilarious improvisation. Throw in some costume pieces, props, rude songs, plenty of adult jokes — and you’ve got yourself a chaotic but incredibly funny night out. Bring your friends, partners, or go solo — just make sure you’re 18+.

A chaotic, hilarious gem - and the perfect show to end my Edinburgh Fringe experience.
